I am running this on a Joomla 1.5.6 instal running in Legacy mode. So far, it looks like this component works, and that's awesome!
I have a couple of questions though;
1. I would like to run the backup using a cron, so it's automatic. In one of the folders that came with the package, I see the cron.php file. Is this the file I need to set the cron job to fire off? I looked through the code and this looks right, I just want to make sure, since the cron.php file is in the admin compononent folders, and not in a publicly accessible folder.
So basically, I need to add a cron job that fires off this file when I want it to, correct?
2. My site has a pretty big database and media folder, like 6 or 7GB. What settings would you reommend to make the backup process as tight as possible?
I appreciate your contributation and support!

Another note, since I am seeinf the files created in my backup folder now, and this is back concerning point 2. The file size of the tar created as backup_2011-04-12_21-57_scoutingohio.com-nosql.tar is only 2.15GB. Is this a size limit issue with my server's settings? My total site when downloaded normally is about 9GB, so I need to make sure I am getting everything 🙂
Thanks again,
Bill
Hi Bill, usually with the default settings XCloner should not have any issues creating a backup of your site, it does however by default, split the backup archive into multiple parts when the size gets larger than 2GB, did the backup process indicate the backup contains multiple parts? Check also the view backups screen for that.
You can adjust that setting to a larger value than 2048MB (2GB) inside the XCloner Config->System tab, but please note, for it to work, you php needs to be compiled under a 64 bit enviroment.
