Hi,

I have tried to follow the instructions, but I must be missing something. I have sucessfully backed up the site. I can view the backup files. But I am not understanding how to restore even in the same server. Do I need to clone/move even if it is the same server? If I am trying to move to ther same folder, wouldn't it delete the backup?

Sorry I couldn't figure it out myself. Please help.

Hi there! The restore procedure for the same server is the same as mentioned in our wiki here https://docs.xcloner.com/#/

Hope it helps! Ovidiu

For the manual process, I am trying to download the 80MB backup file. But it doesn;t copy to my local pc. The file size is zero. Do you have any clue why?

Try and use a ftp client to download the backup to your computer! Ovidiu

Ok, I have copied the .tar files in my pc and unzipped it. Since I have already installed Joomla (in the site where I want to restore), it has similar folders. Should I replace those folders with these unzipped folders or copy to a subfolder?

You can start the restore and overwrite the existing installation, XCloner does not require Joomla to be installed previously to restore

Ok. That is very good because I can have an exact site or in other words real "clone" -:)

Since I am using a hosting service which automatically creates database only when I install Joomla, I have a unique situation I think. If I have an empty site with no Joomla, then I will NOT have any database. If I don;t have any database, then how wil XCloner copy the database?

By the way, I sincerely appreciate your outstanding and prompt service.

You will need to use your hosting control panel and create an empty database, then use that when asked on the XCloner.php restore screen

I had created an empty database in a new site and followed the steps. Everything went fine without any errors, but I get the following message when I go to the site:

No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting...

I tried to import just the database again, which says databse populated and everything should be fine. But I still get this error.

You need to check if your configuration.php got restored, and if not or it's 0 bytes in size, you need to check if it's present inside the backup archive!

Check the disk space available also(at least twice the backup size), and if you still have issues, better extract the backup manually and restart the restore process with "skip files restore" option checked
