Hello,
XCloner looks like a very good tool from its description - but I am unable to make it run so far. Installed on my site (J1.5.22), and in the extension configuration screens it immediately gives me a big red error at the top:
Could not connect: Access denied for user: '...@localhost' (Using password: YES)Unable to select database ...
I checked the settings on the MySQL tab of XCloner, and it got everything correctly from the Joomla's configuration.php file, the hostname, the username, the password and the DB name.
Can you please advise what could be causing this, as I am really looking forward to being able to migrate my site easily (mainly for local tests).
Best regards,
Anton
Hi Anton! Are you using any special config option in your Joomla related to the mysql engine? Are you using maybe http://www.php.net/m.....li.php to connect to the database, are you able to make a test script to see if that works? On the php mysql_connect page there are several examples, you just need to replace the connect details.
Lookout for any special characters inside the mysql details, and see if they affect in any way the mysql connection, if it's a bug, we could fix it easily.
Let me know if you still have issues, Ovidiu

Hi Ovidiu,
You're fast AND helpful! I do use mysqli engine, but that was not the issue - on the php_mysql_connect page that you linked me to there is a way to pass a socket information into the connect call, so I changed the hostname to read "localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock" - and this helped!
Thank you very much! Next steps for me will be to attempt the actual migrate and restore on a local server, but it looks like I have to defer this to Monday 🙂
Regards and thanks,
Anton
