error when I install the incompatibility is an older version ?

What is the exact error you are receving? Make sure you are downloading the correct XCloner package for Joomla 1.5 from here http://www.xcloner.c.....oad/?did=1

Ahh, that is something else. Usually, to fix it, you need to apply 755 permissions on these folders
- administrator/components
- administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore
make sure you also check your server error log for the full error message

Please check your site error log, the 500 error text is detailed there, if you don't have access to it, ask your hosting support to check that for you.
Just to be clear, you are receiving that error when you are trying to access XCloner from the main menu and not when installing it?
