Restore onto Bitnami wordpress stack will not connect to database | Wordpress Support | Forum Archive

I have been trying to get an Xcloner backup of a hosted wordpress site to restore onto my mac (yosemite) running wordpress on a Bitnami stack.

I create a new database and after the restore runs I change the 'home' and 'siteurl' records in the options table to be http://127.0.0.1:808...../wordpress

I edit the wp-config.php file to use the new database name, user and localhost

I clear out the .htaccess file

I think I am doing everything right!

When I try to access the site I get 'Cannot connect to database' error.

I am mystified as to why this is happening and wonder if anyone can help.

Incidentally, an Akeeba restore of the same site works perfectly.....
