My xcloner version is 3.1.1 and my Wordpress version is 3.9 though the problems were also present under Wordpress 3.8.3
I cloned a site with xcloner and initially xcloner said it could not connect to the database.
I deactivated it and reloaded the plugin - the database connection problem was resolved but backups did not complete successfully..
So I deactivated and then deleted it before installing afresh.
However although backups seem to work there is no authentication request when I call xcloner from Wordpress.
The xcloner interface simply loads without asking for a user name and password.
If I click the logout button it seems to have no effect because when I restart xcloner I am straight back into the interfaces without any authentication request.
I do not see any option to administer username and password as is indicated in the documentation
However I have another site with xcloner that is correctly asking for username and password on xcloner load.
This site also does NOT show the authentication tab in the Administration-> Configuration screen.
If I inspect the xcloner configuration page source I can see that the Authentication tab has been commented out as follows

(I hope that displays correctly in this post.)
I am aware that docs say password can be reset by adding
$_CONFIG["jcpass"] = md5("new_password")
just before the end of the xcloner config php file
but if I did this I would not be sure what the username was to go with that passsword!
Before cloning I had set a unique username and password for xcloner
I also trried to look in the database to see if I could see where xcloner username and password were stored but could not easily find them
Can any one help me by explaining:
a) how can I reset my username and password for xcloner using the plugin interface
OR
b) If I use the $_CONFIG["jcpass"] = md5("new_password") then how do I know what my admin username is
OR
c) is it possible to change xcloner username and password directly in the database and if so then how - what table and fields and values do I need edit.
Thansk in advance for any assistance.
Regards
Ivor

I wonder if the answer to my authentication reset question is simple.
Perhaps newer versions of xcloner do not maintain a password separate from the wordpress logged in administrator?
I just installed the lastest version of xcloner on a new wordpress install.
And there is no xcloner username/password authentication screen nor option in configuration.
And yet the backup worked fine.
Perhaps xcloner is now accessible to wordpress logged in ?administrators? and no longer supports it own internal username/password within the wordpress install.
Certainly looking as if this is by design as opposed to any error.
