Hi there

I have just started using XCloner and was wondering if there is any way to auro delete backups from the remote storage location that I have set XCloner to FTP up to?

Many thanks

Hi Jamie, at the moment that option is not yet implement, but it's pretty easy to add, simply check the cloner.cron.php file inside your install folder, you will find there the code to modify as needed!

I will look into getting this added in the next version! Ovidiu

Thanks for the reply Ovidiu

To make the necessary change, is it just a question of editing the code:

######## DELETING OLDER BACKUPS ##############################################

if($_CONFIG['cron_file_delete_act']){

logxx("<br />\nDeleting older backups than ".$_CONFIG['cron_file_delete']." days: ");
delete_older_backups($clonerPath);

}

??

If so, what should I edit it to say, for example, you want to keep 30 days worth of backup before the system starts deleting?

Many thanks

In XCloner Config Cron tab there is an option for defining the delete backups older than variable option. Based on that, the process will start the delete_older_backups() function from where you can add the ftp delete code.

OK, I had already done that (and set it to 7 days), but there are now 9 backups (1 a day) as you can see from this screenshot in the destination folder which is a remote FTP site…..

Did you add the ftp delete code? IF so, try and check the cron log output as well to see if there are any error messages related to that!

OK I think I may have missed the point here.... is the delete code the code that I put in an earlier post on this thread?

If it is, to make it active, do I just remove the xx from logxx ?? Is there anything else i would need to do with the code??

And in Xcloner, I just set delete backups to active and choose the nbumber of days?

Thanks

Jamie

Hi Jamie, no, the code is not here, you will probably need to create it first. And yes, in XCloner you only need to activate and setup the number of days you want to keep the backup for...

Thanks

Jamie
