Hi I need some help figuring out what went wrong with my restore. Joomla 3.03 site

I followed the instructions created a new directory, new database and user uploaded Xcloner.php and the tar file + my back up to the directory. Filled out the details in xcloner php. Wouldnt connect via ftp so I wrote files directly.

Everything seemed to go well however when I clicked the go to site I get this error

Fatal error: Class 'JApplicationWebClient' not found in /home/myusername/public_html/home/libraries/legacy/application/application.php on line 115

Hope you can help - I'm really stressed out about this.

Thanks

G

Try and extract the backup archive locally and re-upload all files except the configuration.php file to make sure all files are copied correctly, also check the disk space available and increase it if needed.

It appears there must be a problem with that back up tar file - it wouldn't open when using my usual archive/zip software. Yet I extracted a back up from a week earlier as expected.

This back up was noticeably larger than the more recent one. I supppose alarm bells should have rung for me.

I might try with the earlier back up. This is frustrating though.

Hi again - I've since restored with a slightly earlier TAR archive. However now I'm getting  a 500 error

Layout default not found. In both front and backend...

Any suggestions on geeting around this?

Appreciate your help.

OK - I've got the backend working again by uploading all the original Administrator/components files in the new directory.

Still got the front-end giving me

Layout default not found

So wondering what folders/files should I upload now from the original package without overriding content or settings I need.

When downloading the backup archive, try and use a ftp client and make sure the downloaded backup archive size matches the original one, afterwards try to extract it. if you still have issues opening it, it could be that the backup is corrupt.

OK - I've managed to get the backup version working by adding files and scripts from the backup and original template package manually as necessary.

What I want to know is why both my backup TAR files were problem ridden. I'm just creating them in XCloner component using default settings. Am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

Check the disk space available and make sure the downloaded backup archive size matches the original one, otherwise better use a ftp client to keep the file integrity....
