I am moving a couple of sites to a new provider..

On the first site - I installed xcloner and it worked perfectly - following the instructions verbatim - this site was called bedrock.scargill.net and I moved it to a new server with the domain http://www.bedrock.es - all I had to do was update the SQL to reflect the new image URLS. Perfect.

On the second site I was merely moving http://www.scargill.net to the same name - but on the new server.  I made the backup on the original - no problem - followed the instructions to move stuff to the new server and run xcloner.php - I then changed my hosts file (as before) to point to the new server (not wanting to lose the original) - and xcloner.php again started up perfectly.

But after a minute or so I received...

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

and on the new site (which DID have a bog-standard Wordpress installation on it - exactly as I'd done with the bedrock site) I got...

Error establishing a database connection

and that's where I am now - can't get any further forward.

Thoughts?

PEte.

Try extracting the backup archive files manually, then restart the restore process with Skip Files Restore option checked.

Well, I just did that and I can confirm that it over-wrote all the files - as it should... but then just as before when it came to running xcloner.php I got..

Could you post a screenshot from your browser to include the restore url and error message?

Hello to all!

I think this thread should fit best for me (so I don't need to create a new one).

I get the following error message both on execute cron job from Xcloner config page (Joomla 3.2) and when I try to run the backup by a cron job by my hoster:

To run this script you need to create a custom config file inside XCloner Config, and call the script using php cli command like this:

php /www/htdocs/w00f5329/die-kerwe_de/cms/Joomla/j30/administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore/cloner.cron.php mycustomconfig.php

In Xcloner for Joomla 2.5 I started the cron job by open http://die-kerwe.de/......php (via cron job by hoster).

This seems not to work anymore. If I try (second error message appearance from above) I get the message.

After getting the message the first time, I created a profile and used this URL: /support/forums/general-questions-and-support/not-working/ (I got this from Xcloner Config Page -> clicked on Execute Cron).

I hope I could explain understandable. Thanks for any solutions in advance!

Best regards

Stefan

The cron command has been changed and url's are not allowed, you will need to use this comman format

php /www/htdocs/w00f5329/die-kerwe_de/cms/Joomla/j30/administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore/cloner.cron.php mycustomconfig.php

Hope it helps! Ovidiu

My hoster offers only a possibilty to execute cron jobs with http://. Is it possible to use it anyway?

You can remove the following lines at the top of cloner.cron.php , but note, this will make the file accessible to intruders, so i suggest protecting the file some other way

if(!isset($argv[1]) ) {
echo  "<h2>".$topErrorLine1."</h2>\n";
echo "<strong>".$topErrorLine2."</strong>\n";
exit;
}

Perhaps per .htaccess?

Update: Yes, works properly. Thank you for your help!
