i seem to have done it all ok but am stuck with the password after i transferd the backup to a new site have enterd this line
$_CONFIG["jcpass"] = md5("my_new_pass");
after this one
@mysql_close($link);
?>
but still get anywere
any help please

Try reinstalling XCloner and if that doesn't help, check your sessions.save_path php.ini value and make sure it points to a valid writeable path, otherwise sessions won't work and neither the XCloner login.

yep did all that but still the same cannot login to set up the files on new site?

Could you post here the value of your sessions.save_path ? Check here as well http://forums.vpslin.....php.html , you can use that script to test sessions and make sure they are created.
