Hi.
I had been searching for a stand-alone solution for backing up the several websites i have on my domain, on a shared host. XCloner is a decent solution (and it has a great price ). However, there were two things i really didn't like about it, so i thought i'd fix them.
The first issue was the temporary backup path. I don't want to have to add "administrator/backups" folders to each of my websites, so i replaced that with ".xcloner". Now, all i have to do is create an ".xcloner" folder at the root of each website (with a suitable .htaccess file) and that's it. I have uploaded a patch here: xcloner_backup-temporary-path.zip .
The second issue was maintaining the multiple config files. I don't want to have to backup and replace "cloner.config.php" every time i need to edit one of the config files. So, i modified XCloner to accept another URL paramenter: "config" (like cloner.cron.php). Here is another patch: xcloner_edit-multiple-configs.zip . At the top of my head i can already think of an improvement to this: at the cron tab of the configuration page add an "edit config" link to each of the "Available Configurations". It would have been easy, but i didn't remember it at the time and i don't feel like doing it now.
Any way, since i got XCloner for free, i figured i'd give something back. This is my way of saying "Thanks, Ovidiu!".
