Why is this so hard?.

OK for someone like me, (a complete noob) i have managed to create a backup of the site i am creating on my pc. I have transfered that backup file to my laptop where i would like to add the contents of that backup file onto my laptop so i can continue where i left off.

My problem is that it seems to be asking for ftp info etc which i do not know as both are hosted locally on each machine. Can you not just click on a resotre button and browse to the backup file and it then stores all the info from that onto whatever machine you are on.?. Would be sooo much easier:)
