Hi

I've got a bunch of wordpress sites hosted on a shared linux server (with Fasthosts) & many actually share a mysql DB too.

I need a robust solution to :

- do weekely scheduled backups of files & DB (structure & data)

- save the backup on a livedrive account (FTP access)

Being shared I have little control on the server & have seen some other comments in the forum about not having CRON access on sever to set up schedule?

Can you tell me if xcloner can do what i need it to & how best i go about setting it up.  I'm not particulaly techie so please bear that in mind 🙂

Thanks

pete

Hi Pete! XCloner can create automatic backups, however it does not have a livedrive upload feature yet. And yes, to run the automatic backups, you need access to a cron manager on your server first, without it, you could use a wordpress cron plugin to simulate that, but i don't guarantee it will work properly!

Hope it helps in your decission! Ovidiu

Thanks Ovidiu,

Livedrive has an FTP area so in theory if we put in the right settings into XCloner it can send the backup there?

What will likely issues be with wordpress cron plugin so i can understand the risks?

Thanks

Yes, if it supports ftp uploads, then XCloner can do this! As for the cron WP plugin, most common issues are server timeout when running the full backup script! Ovidiu
