I am trying to use XCloner to backup my website.
The process runs smoothly until the filesystem backup gets to 97% (715.25Mb) when it consistently fails with the message:
There was an error retrieving the JSON data from the server, try again or contact the developers!
Details: error -- undefined
JSON url: index2.php?option=com_cloner&task=refresh&json=1&startf=21400&lines=21981&backup=backup_2012-10-04_14-57_www.asperger.asn.au-sql-nodrop.tar&excl_manual=
I don't understand the meaning of JSON error and have no idea how to overcome it. I have read the other posts on this topic but they don;t seem to give me the solution I need.
Any help appreciated.

Could you post here screenshots after the:
1. full error message including the estimated backup size
2. View Backups screen area

Thanks Ovidiu for quick response.
The problem does not always occur at exactly the same point. Sometimes much earlier, but the backup never finishes either.

Try and decrease the "Files to process per request" option to 50 or lower in the XCloner Config System tab and see if it helps! Additionally, have you tried clicking the Retry link at the bottom of that error?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried changing the setting but got a similar result:

I'm off to bed now but will experiment a bit more with settings in the morning.
