Backend 404 error

Everything works very smoothly, backing up the site without a hitch to my local host. Then when I try to access the backend, I get as far as the User Name/Password login and then get "404 The Page you are looking for doesn't exist or an other error occurred".

I've looked through the forum but there seems to be a wide variety of suggested solutions. I'd appreciate some guidance on how to solve this. XClone seemed one of the best backup components until I hit the backend issue.

I'm running Joomla 3.2 on Windows 7. I use Wamp for my localhost.

Hi Robin, do you get that error when trying to access the Joomla or XCloner backend?

Hi,

Joomla. When I use /administrator, the login box is displayed. When I then click the Login button, I get the 404 error. I've tried doing a new backup a few times, and always the same: frontend works perfectly, can't access backend.

Robin

Re-upload again the core files to see if it helps!

Hi,

any news on this issue?

Had the same problem after restoring and I was only able to fix it by manually "untarring" the files again from the [backup].tar. However, after doing this I'm not able to login again with my admin user...

Best regards

jörg
