I am a little confused regards backing up and export using cron job.

Have following settings under cron tab:

Configuration name: LEFT BLANK (see below)

Remote FTP

Full

FTP server: backups.wynchcote.co.uk

Username: myusername

Password: mypassword

FTP path: backups.wynchcote.co.uk/httpdocs/backups/clients/client_name/

Note: I have left the conjob field blank because despite having read the documentation I am confused how to use the footnote provided:

cloner.cron.php?config=config file cloner.config.php

other than to select execute cron to apply a remote backup.

When I do select execute cron I receive the following response showing successful backup creation but failed transfer:

Using configs/config file cloner.config.php as configuration file

Starting /var/www/vhosts/trial.wynchcote.co.uk/httpdocs/xcloner/cloner.cron.php

Please can you advise where I am going wrong?

I have set up the directories to be transferred to on the remote server with permissions set to 755.

Even when set to 777 or 766 the transfer fails – same response.

Have not approched my server admins but tested I can FTP upload the backed up .TGZ file and achieved success.

I have note set up a Cron job on the remote server using Plesk control panel as understand this is only required when scheduling automated backups.

Thanks for the great application which I find is otherwise very easy to administer, and thanaks for your help here!

Ken 🙂

Hi Ken, welcome to the forum.

The error you have usually indicates the ftp upload path is wrong, try and recheck that with a ftp client, if i were to guess, your correct ftp path should not contain the "backups.wynchcote.co.uk/" part.

Hope it helps! Ovidiu

Thanks for the friendly welcome Ovidiu!

I can FTP to

backups.wynchcote.co.uk

via FileZilla.

I have now tried two versions of the path:

httpdocs/backups/clients/

and

/httpdocs/backups/clients/

Still no success.

Error message reads:

FTP upload has failed for file
/var/www/vhosts/trial.wynchcote.co.uk/httpdocs/administrator/backups/backup_2011-03-06_18-22_trial.wynchcote.co.uk-sql-nodrop.tgz
! Stopping ....

Could you post a screenshot from yout ftp client to see the path you have there? Also, try and set the Ftp transfer mode to Passive in your XCloner Config->System tab, and see if it helps.

Here is the FTP screenshot.

Have set FTP to PASSIVE in System tab.

Have tried again using all variants of the path shown in previous post.

Still no success.

Ken 🙂

Could not see how to upload image - so here is a link at the above URL.

Ok, here is something you can try, use only the httpdocs/ folder and see if it helps. Make sure the folder you are trying to upload it to is also writeable by that ftp user. I am afraid if it still fails, and all details are correct, it might be an issue from your local server, probably a firewall setting, so try and contact your hosting company to see if they can help you with that.
