OfflineI'm hoping to transfer the web site that I manage to another host so I need a backup system other than that of the current host.
I've tried Akeeba but it always fails and now I'm having trouble with Xcloner. It runs to end and generates a 30Mb backup, but what exactly is in it? It's always 30Mb whether I exclude or not the "images" folder.
In order to test its restore facility, I downloaded a created backup file to my PC and saved it under htdocs under C:\xampp along with the contents of the "restore" folder (xcloner.php and tar). I got several errors starting with a checksum error, but got the restore through to termination. The resulting test web site was "rubbish"! No template formatting, etc.
So! What is being backed up and can I rely trying to restore using this extension?
One item I have noticed regarding my current host and that is that phpMyadmin is version 2.0.something when the latest is 3.5.1.
Regards.
David
You should probably check that the downloaded backup archive size matches the original one, if not, better use a ftp client and download the backup archive that way, the checksum error usually indicates an incompleted backup.
For the rest, the restore process is the same, get the backup archive, XCloner.php and TAR.php files, and run it.
