Hi I'm trying to move a joomla site using xcloner and at one point I found a joomla or xcloner guide that walked you through making the back up, cloning, transferring and then moving the database. I've now lost that url and am at the transferring mysql stage. I'm not technical enough to do this without a simple step by step guide which explains what each entry field is asking for.

Can anyone point me to the appropriate url?

Thanks.

This restore wiki /wiki/index.php/Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually should help.

Thanks Ovidiu, I'm going through the automatic process and have a few questions. I started my site locally, uploaded it all to a server to develop it, and am now moving it to another server for hosting.

"MySql configuration."

Is it just MySQL server and database that requires the new server address? Is the MySQL username and password required for the new or old?

"Install URL- Is the web address from where you are able to
access the install directory."

Where do I find the correct address. I assumed, as it is a default joomla template that it would come across with the back-up and sit in the directory somewhere on my new server or is it somewhere else?

Not having had a formal education in computing I have difficulty grasping the process and often find options open to some misinterpretation. I'm probably guilty of doing it quite deliberately as I'm so anxious not to get it wrong. I would find it helpful if references were made to source username etc. and destination username - no confusion then.

Mysql configuration details refers to the new database on the new host, so you need to create that first. Install url and dir can be left as default if the restore script is where you would like to restore the backup
