I
have after a proper backup of my website at http://www.aastrup.de/joomla16
tried to restore this backup on my own computer under XAMPP, where
Joomla! already have been installed with a Mysql database.
I've
used the manual method as described in the manual page 24 etc. The
files are extracted manually in the folder /joomla16/ on my computer.
I have not imported the external MySQL database, but run the
configuration file XCloner.php.
Restore function ends with:
Configuration updated! Database import skipped!
When I try to run
the new installation, I get an error message: Database Error: Unable
to connect to the database: Could not connect to MySQL.
My
settings are:
XCloner Automatic Restore! - localhost
1. Install
directory: (server path hvor du ønsker restore your backup):
C:/xampp/htdocs/joomla16/

2.Install Url: (the url of your
correspondent Install directory:) http://localhost/joomla16/
Where do
I fail?

I would advise trying a normal restore with all the default options checked and mysql details filled in, and see how it goes.

From what i see fromy our post, you didn't import the mysql database which is required on the new site.

I've tried to make a normal restore on page 19. After completing the fields about ftp in the table on page 20, I get an almost blank screen with or without incremental transfers.

Can you post a few screenshots of your restore screen? Normally on localhost you don't need to use ftp mode for transfer, so the Install files directly option needs to remain checked! Ovidiu

This restore wiki should help /wiki/index.php/Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually , you need to copy the backup archive and restore script manaully to the localhost site so you can continue the restore process.

I have downloadet the backup archive + TAR.php + XCloner.php to my folder joomla16 under XAMPP and continued the automatic restore process according to page 21. The backpå archive has been unzipped succesfull, and the configuration.php seemes to have both setups.
Then I have activated XCloner.php but get a lot of error messages like the two here: http://profile.image.....enaastrup/

Might want to use an empty database for the restoring the mysql data.

I have under localhost renamed the existing database joomla16 to joomla16old. Then I have created a new backup, but I can not exclude two other databases from this backup using the prefix tng_ and pgv_, so these must be manually deleted after import.

The new backup is copied to localhost with TAR and xcloner.php, enabled the latter and completed the installation of both files as data successfully. Then I have deleted xcloner.php.

But the front of my site is shown without any template, and the activation of all menus items gives Object not found! and Error404.

I would be able to help you better if you could make a test restore on an online location we could access, the 404 errors for internal links are caused by the mod_rewrite SEF urls, so you might need to disable that, is your site backend working properly?
