Restore Error

I am attempting to restore a backup to the root folder of a website and I'm getting the following error:

Directory /home/users/web/b1306/ipg.domainname/ is not writeable or does not exists! Could not continue…

The backup file was created from a Joomla 1.5 install in a sub folder, and now I'm trying to make a copy of it in the root.

Any help would be appreciated, as our website is now down.

Thanks

To fix that error you simply need to apply 777 permissions on your restore folder /home/users/web/b1306/ipg.domainname/ through any ftp client.

Hope it helps! Ovidiu

That would make sense, but my host, iPage, said that there is no way to change the 'root folder' of the account to 777.

Any other ideas?

You could restore the files to a subfolder on your site and simply use the XClone ftp mode option to send the files to the proper location. If not, i would suggest extracting the backup archive manually and then restarting the restore process with the "Skip files restore" option checked

I will try your first option right away and report back.

Thanks
