The procedure to create cron tasks ?

Hello.

I've already been fighting for hours to understand how to create cron tasks to make backups with Xcloner (and Akeeba).

I'm on a shared hosting (1and1)

I've seen the code to put in a "crontab" :

wget -q http://website/path_.....r.cron.php

or :

/usr/bin/php  /homepages/25/dxxxxxxxxx/htdocs/mywebsite/administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore/cloner.cron.php

1 – I don't know which of these 2 lines I must use.

2 -  What/where is this "crontab" file ? I can connect to my hosting by SSH with Filezilla, but I don't find any cron file or directory, and I don't know how to use Putty (hundreds of parameters to select).

Any of those 2 command lines should work, i do suggest however the second one.

As for crontab, if you are logged into ssh, simply type and run

crontab -e

It would be best in this case to simply ask your hosting support for instructions on how to use their cron scheduler, they might have something more visual available!

Yes, they provide instructions ... incomprehensible for me :

I think I have to give up my searches for a clear procedure to create cronjobs, and use an external service .

With other hosters using Cpanel, there is a visual interface that I could use, but changing hoster only for cronjobs is not serious.
