I received the following error. (And retrying gives the same error all over).

The backup seems to be failiing most probably when processing a large file(s), if you open the file administrator/backups/perm.txt and look between lines 5900 and 6000 you should find the file with the issue there.
If there are multiple large files, you could try and decrease the Files to process per request option from the XCloner Config -> System tab(default is 100, try 50), otherwise it might be better to exclude them from the main backup archive. Another option would be to increase the php exectution timeout limit if it's allowed
