I'm cloning my development site to my new domain name, and it doesn't work.

Joomla version is 1.5.23

I copy the two xcloner files and the backup in the root of my new site, I then start the process and it continues until about 20% and then it al stops with these 2 errors:

TAR error: Error while opening {/customers/a/4/4/smederijdebruyn.be/httpd.www/administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore/css/start/images/ui-bg_flat_55_999999_40x100.png} in write binary mode

and when I click continue to start the database restore I get this:

Unable to read the database backup file /customers/a/4/4/smederijdebruyn.be/httpd.www//administrator/backups/database-sql.sql , database was not imported!

Any idea what I can do about this.

Thanks!

I continued trying things and I unzipped my backup then via ftp copied all files to the server.

After that I started the xcloner.php to restore the database this went without errors.

But my site is not working I only get the homepage and none of my navigation is working.

original site: http://www.laptop-on.....erdelen.be

cloned site: http://www.smederijdebruyn.be

Jurgen

The internal links to not work because there is a problem with the mod_rewrite on the new server, so check that:

1. .htaccess file is present on the new host and the code inside is correct

2. apache mod_rewrite is enabled and working on the new host

Otherwise, i would suggest disabling the SEF url's until you get this problem fixed.

Also wondering about cloning site. the site that is online is just a test site. I wish to further develop it locally. I do not know anyway to ftp to my laptop. (a mac.) also I do not see any files in the administrator directory except for one index.html file inside the backups directory.  I created a new word press site locally, installed xcloner, and just wanted to hit the restore button and have it use the backup from the online site. I already ftped it using my ftp program which will download to my computer. But it is not a password to my computer, it is a download.

Does this make sense? Will xcloner work to bring a web site to a local host as well as an online host? what is the right way to do this?

Hi Maggie, please check this restore wiki, it should help /wiki/index.php/Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually

XCloner restore option can be used both localy as well as online as long as you have a web server running supporting php.

Ovidiu,

I got my site up and running by creating the .htaccess file.

After cloning I could not login into xcloner, after modifying the cloner.config.php file I can login but cannot take backups i get:

Backup Start Path Check: Invalid directory (/)
Backup Store Path Check: Invalid directory (/customers/smederijdebruyn.be/smederijdebruyn.be/httpd.www/administrator/backups)
Temporary Path Check: Invalid directory (/administrator/backups)
I think these directories should be correct, any idea what is happening?
Many thanks,
Jurgen

Did you create the administrator/backups/ directory under your site Backup Start Path? If so, try and reinstall XCloner as it will pick up the correct paths by default!

Ovidiu,

I tried to reinstall and got this error message:

  • JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
  •

I then deinstalled the xcloner component wich worked without any problems

When I tried installing then I got the same error:

  • JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
  •

I am guessing something is wrong with the Joomla installer setup, are you abl to instal other components?

    You should check that:

    1. the Joomla install folders are writeable

    2. if ftp mode is enabled, recheck the ftp details in Joomla Global Config or simply disable it

    Hi Ovidiu,

    1. checked and I think all is ok

    2. ftp mode was disabled

How much would it cost me to help resolve this issue via Premium Support?

    Regards,

    Jurgen
