Just downloaded and installed Xcloner, so it is a very current download.
Got the following error:
I looked through the other topics on this issue and tried to find the directory to exclude it, but cannot find that. In fact the path specificed above does not reflect mine, which is of the format usr/home......
Any thoughts?

Seems you have a symlink somewhere which you would need to exclude, if you can email us the administrator/backups/perm.txt file i will try and find it. Otherwise, simply set the "Backup process mode" to Normal in your XCloner config->System tab, then try again!

Hi Ovidiu,
I have tried both options:
Backup process mode - my version has options for Aministration -> Configuration then tabs for General, MYSQL, Authentication, System, Cron and Info. Selecting System gives me these major options: Display Settings, System Settings and Backup Manual Process. Under Backup Manual Process I have Files to process, Database records, Exclude files larger than, Split Backup Archive if Larger than, Time between requests, Compress, Backup Refresh mode and Enable log. I do not see any option under any tab for Backup process mode....
Perm.txt - this one is wierd. I found the entry and deleted it. Put it back, downloaded again to verify the upload worked (it did). Tried it again and got the same thing. Tried logging out of Xcloner, tried logging out of Joomla admin, tried a different browser. In every case, after I ran a backup, the "old" perm.txt file was back. Finally I tried simply deleting perm.txt - it still tried to run, had the same error and wrote a perm.txt file into the folder. So there must be some cache option that I am missing.
Thanks
Dave

My bad, that option is called "Backup Refresh mode", and it defaults to AJAX, try and change it to Normal then try again.
The perm.txt file is used by Xcloner to build the files list, so that's being generated each time a backup process is started.
Ovidiu
Hi Ovidiu,
That worked like a charm! Thanks so much.
