I have noticed that there are many posts about Xcloner hanging on localhost installations. I have been experiencing the same problem for a while. I am back at it - trying to get it fixed. I noticed that immediately after I installed xcloner 2.1 I was able to configure and make a backup. But after that, I can only get to the main xcloner page once in a while and when I land there, I can't go any further (i.e., change configurations or initiate any backups). Sometimes the main page Icon menus don't appear (just the side menu) and the browser just keeps churning. Sometimes not even the side menu appears, there is just a blank space in the component area under the main joomla administrative menu system, and the browser just keeps churning. If I select another item from the Joomla administrative menu, it will switch - but sometimes I can't even do that - instead the browser just keeps churning and the programs stays hung.
I am using the new XAMPP 1.6.7 installation on my local host with it's default settings; and the new Joomla 1.5.6. Windows XP SP2 system. Pentium dual core, 2 gigs ram.
Never had this problem with the Joomlacloner version working on Joomla version 1.0.x.
Any answers yet?
Thanks for your help.

Hi there,
unfortunately I got the same problem, xcloner hangs on localhost site.
What do I have:
- managed server in a providers server farm
- server name 'localhost'
- not be able to start/restart apache nor mysql, because of managed server restrictions (is not a root server handled by myself)
I verified the problem by testig xcloner on a usual webhosters space with unique server name and it works very well.
My problem is I bought Xcloner unlimited ($100) and getting afraid of not be able to use it.
What can I do?
Thanx
Ian
