Losing ownership when installing component

When I clone my joomla to another live site, I lost ownership for quite some files, which I manually reseted it from my DirectAdmin acct.

But it seems like since then, whenever I install a new component, all the ownership becomes "apache" and I have to again reset ownership for each files under the component. I'm not sure if there's anything to do with JoomlaCloner but I don't remember having this problem when I was at my old site.

Do you have any idea why this is happening and any way to prevent it again?

Hi there! This is a common problem when installing components with Joomla, when uploading the files, on some servers, the owner and group will be different than the normal user!

This issue is being handled in the comming Joomla 1.5 version by adding a ftp mode when installing the components so the user and group are preserved by simulating a ftp upload session!

Let me know if you have more questions! Ovidiu
