I've tried for 3 days to get this to work. I've given up on proftp since it stops with a signal 15. I then tried the manual way. Copied the tar to the correct folder and the 3 files in the component archive. I launch with Joomla.Cloner.php. Works ok until this message:
Connected to localhost, for user itperson, starting transfer...
Warning: ftp_put() [function.ftp-put]: /opt/lampp/htdocs/joomla/administrator/backups/.excl: Permission denied in /opt/lampp/htdocs/joomla/Joomla.Cloner.php on line 303
Transfer fail for /opt/lampp/htdocs/joomla/archive_tmp//administrator/backups/.excl to /opt/lampp/htdocs/joomla/administrator/backups/.excl
File already exists and/or doesn't have writing permissions!
I have preserve permissions checked and everything else seems to be set correctly. Copying directly simply doesn't work.
Notice the double slash // above.
I'm at a loss and horribly frustrated. Please help!

Bill

Hi there! Ok, first of all, before restoring did you had any previous files installed?
Is so, you need to delete them all before you continue, you only need to have the clone and restore script present! Also check for avalaible disk space on your site, make sure you have enough space!
Second, if you still get the problem through ftp mode, try and restore the clone by using the 'Direct restore' option!
Let me know if you stil have problems, and if you need further assistance please open a ticket and send me there your ftp+mysql details to the restore location!
Regards, Ovidiu
