[Fixed] Incomplete Backups

Here's my situation. I running on a local Windoze Server 2003. Apache 2.2.3 and PHP 5.2.0. Joomla 1.0.12 and JoomlaCloner 1.9.2. The website and subsites are about 3GB in size (excluding the backup files).

I have been running JoomlCloner for a year and for the last several months, I have been running the backup using the Windows scheduler. A few months ago, I used one of the backup files to clone my site to a different computer for development work and everything worked fine. I wanted to update my development system with a current backup, but when I tried to clone the system, I discovered that my backup files are incomplete. I get the same result whether I am using zip or tar.

I watch the process when I choose Generate backup. JoomlaCloner creates the database-sql.sql file, the perm.txt file and then starts creating the zip archive. The archive gets to about 2.8GB in size and then looks like it has finished (the database-sql.sql file and perm.txt file disappear). However, when I look at the contents of the zip file, it is not complete (directories near the end of the alphabet have not been copied).

Have I run into the PHP 2GB file size limit that the FAQs discuss or do you think something else is going on? If it is the PHP limit does anyone know how I might get around the limit or recompile PHP on a Windoze machine?

Any help or ideas to try would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff Nelson

Hi there! Have you checked the disk space available on your server, maybe you have run out of free disk space? Second, try using these options in your JoomlaCloner Config and see how it goes:

1. set "Manual backup" to Yes
2. set "Backup type" to TAR
3. both "Active" checkboxes should be unchecked

Let me know on the result! Regards, Ovidiu
