Pre-sale newbie to databases question

I have built my first Joomla site using Mamp but am having trouble exporting the database in order to 'go live'. This is my first experiences of databases too and I admit to finding them very confusing. I was wondering if JoomlaCloner would ease the process of moving the Joomla site built on the localhost to the net? Is it suitable for a real novice?
I have downloaded the free trial but do I install it to my local site or to the web address that I gave when I requested the trial?
Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi there! JoomlaCloner should be pretty easy to use, i would advise checking this manual regarding the backup and restore process http://www.joomlaplu.....cloner.pdf to get a better understanding!

As for the trial, you need to install it on the site you want to move, so if it's localhost, i suggest you use an unique ip to generate the trial, for instance your computer ip address!

Regards, Ovidiu
