Cloning to a subdomain

I want to clone my site, which has been backed up with the database to a subdirectory on the same server.

Is this going to mess up my original site, with the database being the same? Can I rename the database, so the the new site will have all the same information, just now has a database with a different name?

Thanks!

Hi there! Yes, JoomlaCloner will require that you create a new database before you start restoring on your new location!

So,to create an exact clone of siteA to siteB, you need to move the backup and restore script to siteB webroot, create an empty database on siteB, and then launch the JoomlaCloner restore script and follow the onscreen instructions!

OK, I created a new blank database for the new site. I go to run the restore file and it seems to want to ftp the site, what am I doing wrong?

TIA!
