I noticed that you set TAR as the default file type in version 1.6. When I created a TAR backup, it was 214MB. The identical ZIP backup was 47MB. The size of the original files was 59MB.

This is strange, could you open a ticket and send me your Joomla admin details to check the cloning process!

I am having the same problem.
When i clone a site the new site has size (mb) that is double or triple the original backups size.
Do you have to create a clean joomla for the cloner to "adhere" to or will the cloner create a new joomla at the address i supply as part of the cloning process.
