Joomla 1.5 from Godaddy to Godaddy

Hi everyone. I've read the documents and searched the forums, even purchased xCloner!. I believe this is the software that will fit my need, but I am having so much trouble figuring out the settings.

I built a new website for my church on my personal paid hosting account (godaddy) using a subfolder on my domain. And "all I want to do" is transfer the church's website from the folder on my server to their new (also godaddy) server.

I have synchronized all the files in my subfolder successfully to their server's home folder via Transmit (mac).

I have also setup the SQL v5 Database on the Church's website.

What are the proper settings in order to transfer SQL from one database to another using xcloner?

The site is built using Joomla 1.5 on Linux and is being transferred also to Linux.

With kind regards,

Chris Martin

Hi there! I would advise on checking this godaddy tutorial http://www.joomlaplu.....osting.pdf on how to backup and restore orrectly a backup archive with JoomlaCloner/XCloner

Please check also this Restore FAQ http://www.joomlaplu...../catid,26/

Hope it helps! Ovidiu

Thank you for the reply! I have already found those documents and while the tutorial is referencing JoomlaCloner, xCloner is the only one I can use (Joomla 1.5).

I've been able to get the site transferred using the two links you provided, but xCloner seems to have changed the way Joomla creates the homepage.

If you look at the source code, you'll see that xCloner has omitted a large chunk of code from the header, and I can't figure out how to fix this.

Current (working) beta site for the church:
http://www.chrismart.....m/fcc_new/

Church (new) website:
http://fccmonroe.org.....ewdns.com/

The only difference I can tell between the two sites (on the front-end) is the way the drop down menus work. On my site, they have a smooth and fluid effect - and on the Church's website, the effect is non-existent and the drop-downs don't seem to render properly.

Again, I thank you for the help, but I'm afraid I have already exhausted the resources you referred.

Best Regards,
Chris

At last! I figured out the problem. I contacted my hosting provider and it was the preview dns server settings. Apparently, they have strict php settings on preview servers (prior to the site being published "live"). So certain Joomla settings (including posting of new articles) will display errors until the site is moved to it's "live" server.

Hope this post helps someone else with Godaddy hosting. If you're having problems with certian joomla effects (specifically mootools effects), it's likely the previewdns server if you have one enabled.

(Admin) I've since deleted the support ticket that I created.

Cheers!
Chris
