I have successfully backed up my sql database file, sent it to another server and restored it. However, in the restored file the Japanese text has become just a bunch of question marks.

I have specified UTF8 as data format every place that I can find to make such a designation.

Does anybody have experience with this kind of problem?

The site is in English and Japanese and I am using XCloner and Joomla 1.5.6

HI there! I am not sure what encoding you have for the japanese characters, have you tried restoring with the latin1 or latin2 character set enabled? Make sure that your restore mysql server also supports these types of encoding

If you still have issues, please open a support ticket to help you! Regards, Ovidiu
