G'day,
I've been running with joomla installed in the public_html/joomla directory - whilst I tested it and so on.
Very happy and went live with the site about 6 weeks ago simply using a re-direct of the URL to URL/joomla.
But now I want to move Joomla up to the root - so I've bought JCloner.
Please can someone confirm the steps I need to take..
1.) Backup current site using JCloner
2.) Delete old instance of Joomla
3.) Install new instance of Joomla in root
4.) Create new mySQL DB
5.) Make sure backup file of site is in root, and restore.php is there
6.) Call restore.php and run the script
I test this on a test domain I have (url was reg'd with licence) - and it appeared to work until I hit the url - and got a template missing error - do I need to install the template or is this a permission issue?
Cheers
Ed

The steps are all ok except "2.) Delete old instance of Joomla", you don't have to do that!
Second, the missing template error might be caused if the database was not restored, was your restore database populated? If it wasn't populated, and you got a success message on restore, then you need to recreate the backup on the original host, but first uncheck the 'Active' checkbox near the mysqldump line in JoomlaCloner Configuration, so the mysql backup will get created using only php functions!
