Hi Ovidiu ;
When I first saw this pluging it appeared to be exactly what I was looking for, and free also. Wow fantastic. After venting a little I decided to compose a post that is a little more constuctive. I know you guys work long hours on these plugins and offering them for free is much appreciated. Please Ovidiu, may I make a recommendation? You know how you have code during MAKING the backup, it checks to see if everything is in order BEFORE it lets you continue? What a pleasure to use, no one can complain that XCloner is not working correctly if you demonstrate that the problem is elsewhere. So now, please can you do the same thing for the RESTORE and CLONE parts?
If you need 3 files in the restore directory, check to make sure they are there. If you need access to the database, check before to see that you have it. If the database needs to be empty, check before to make sure that it is emply. If the directory structure needs to be empty, check before to make sure that it is empty. If you need .htaccess a certain way, check to make sure it is that way. If you need write permissions, write a small test file and read it back to make sure you have the needed permissions. In other words, eliminate the possible sources of trouble before you start the restore, just like you do during backup.
Doing this would improve the user satisfaction greatly, and also reduce your workload at the help desk.
