Hi there

I was able to use XCloner to take a copy of my Wordpress installation and FTP it to its new location.  I was then able to unpack all the files and folders, but got a 'Fatal error: Allowed memory size ...' error when I tried to restore the database.

I increased memory in php.ini to 128Mb.  Same problem.

It is a largish database (35000ish posts & pages), so I tried making another backup just of all the tables apart from wp_posts with XCloner, and was able to copy that backup to my new installation.

But whatever I do, I get an error when I try to restore a backup containing the wp_posts table:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 79081646 bytes) in /home/oldies/public_html/XCloner.php on line 1892

This happens whether or not I use the incremental sql import ( recommended for large databases) option.

The backup that has the wp_posts table in it is on ly about 75Mb, so it's not as though it's a real monster, the total site was about 1Gb, but of course most of that was external files.

Hi Victoria!

From the looks of it, the script is trying to allocate 79081646 bytes (75MB) when doing the sql import, so usually that indicates the incremental sql import is not checked, could you recheck that?

Also, when generating the new backup , did you use mysqldump to backup the database? If yes, it might better to leave that option unchecked and try again!

Please tell us also what version of XCloner you are using, have you tried V3.0 beta with default options? it might help...

Regards, Ovidiu

Hi Ovidiu

Yes, I have definitely tried it both with and without the incremental sql import option (several times!) It seemed to make no difference.

I can't see where the option is for mysqldump?  I installed XCloner as a Wordpress plugin.  I did see the mysqldump suggestion in a previous thread about memory issues, but could not work out how to do it within XCloner?

I was about to check out V3 (where is it?  I downloaded from the Wordpress plugin site, so maybe I don't have the latest version?)  when it occurred to me that I could manually untar the backup that just had the problem table in it, then use mysql > source database-sql.sql and get the table installed that way.

So I do now have my table copied for now, but in rather a fiddly way : it would be great to be able to just restore my Wordpress site from within XCloner though, much neater.  I will try V3 if you can point me there?

Thank you so much for a very handy plugin, I was dreading having to download and re-upload a gig of photos etc!

As i said, XCloner handles large databases dump without issues on restore by using the incremental option checked, so i am not sure why you get the same memory error, if you like, send over your database dump download link and we will have a test locally!

XCloner V3.0 is available here http://wordpress.org.....load/ for download.
