I have a multisite installation and one subdomain delivers this erro when clicking on a link.
All the instructions are for moving the DB to a new location. I just like to restore.
There is no simpler way to restore the DB I assume?
Thanks for any hints how I could fix the problem.

The restore process is the same for all hosts, including the original one. Make sure the mysql details you are providing there are correct; if you like to use phpmyadmin, the mysql backup is in the administrator/backups/database-sql.sql file inside the archive...

There are 3 tables missing in the DB. I wanted to export/import them since the other sites are running and I am afraid that I will screw up completely when I restore.
I downloaded the .tar but cant expand it. Then I tried to restore on xampp/localhost to export the tables, but I cant figure out the ftp server name.
I am happy to buy the one month support if you can fix it for me.

To untar the backup archive, it would be best to use an archive client like http://www.7-zip.org/ . Then simply restore the mysql backup to an empty database and use that data as needed.

Ok, I made the payment. How to proceed?
I cant expand the .tar because its corrupted. I try to download again but have a very slow connection here in SA. The tar is 565 MB.

I solved the DB problem.
Now I try to get the backup running on localhost/xampp. I imported the .sql into a fresh DB, but cant get the domain right.
When I try to call it, I get
"This webpage has a redirect loop".
Any suggestions?

Did you updated the WP wp-config.php details? Also, since you are changing the domain name, you should also implement one of the these changes http://codex.wordpre.....e_Site_URL

Its a multisite and they say all these measures work only with single sites. I had changed the database entries with a search&replace plugin and the wp-config, except for these:
