hiya, great product.

i need a small help with filling out the directory fields when select option 'clone' below.

i have tried a few items and cannot get it to work. im sure it is something simple..

Website Url:
Please provide the website url where backup will be moved, example http://www.sitename.com/, we need this because we will direct you there to access the restore script

http://www.myurltoclone.com/

Ftp hostname:
example http://ftp.sitename.com

http://ftp.myurltoclone.com

Ftp username:
example 'john'

ftpusername

Ftp password:
example 'johnpass'

ftppassword

Ftp directory:
Please provide the ftp directory of where you would like to move the backup , example public_html/ or htdocs/ and make sure it has write permissions for everybody, usually 777

/public_html/www.myurltoclone.com

(i used the file manager to find the subdomain website directory path and cut and paste this)

i get a 404 error message.

the site i want to copy to is an addondomain at hostgator, on a different ip address to the site i want to clone. im not sure if im meant to ftp to http://ftp.myurltoclone.com or to http://ftp.domain/addondomain. i assume it is the former, first one.

when i type in http://ftp.myurltoclone.com it logins in straight away and shows 2 directories only, "ftpquota", and "incoming".

im either missing a backslash somewhere, or not using the correct paths, or putting files in the wrong places.

i think it is a path problem.

can you give me an example of the exact paths including backslashes for an addon domain.

thank you for your help.

HI there! Try and use as ftp server name the ip address of the server, without any additions like http:// or ftp://.

If it still fails, please follow this restore FAQ /wiki/index.php/Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually and move the backup archive and restore script manually to the new location so you can continue the restore process

Regards, Ovidiu

hi i got the following error message when try to manually restore the backup to a new site:

"The database details provided are incorrect and/or empty. Unable to connect to mysql server"

what can i try next? is there a way to fix the database (it is a new fresh site so should be ok) ?

i will try and clone a different site, see what happens...

As that error indicates, the mysql details you are providing are incorrect, did you create them on the new host?

If so, and you still get that error, try rechecking them with your hosting provider.
