hi,
heh am having a little trouble with the cloning function. Have manged to create the backup file no probs; but when i enter in the ftp info in the cloning section and press continue it comes up with an iframe of my blog and says that the page can't be found - zero cloning activity --- is this something to do with entering the wrong ftp data (seems ok to me); i have made a directoy in the receiving www. ddress root and have changed it's permissions to 777.... not sure what to do now
can anyone help?
thanks
David

Thanks Ovidiu,
So i have downloaded the tar backup file for my blog and the other php manual restore files you said, thanks
can i just clarify; to clone this inital blog backup onto a new wordpress domain - is all that i need to do is first install wordpress with fantastico; upload the xcloner plugin and then follow the restore instructions from WITHIN xcloner itself (using the files mentioned above)? is this how it works?
or do i have to somehow mess around in filexilla and create new databases etc....(which i find confusing!) ?
Thanks
David

Hi Ovidiu
thanks - so shall i unistall wordpress first from the new domain - or does it not matter ?
i have uploaded the files and run the XCloner.php - the
XCloner Automatic Restore!
screen is showing -- so what now? i don't know what to enter in the slq database fields? do i have to create a database? (i thought by first installing worpress onto the domain that it would set one up for me so that i could avoid doing it.....but if it's not a good idea to overwrite a worpress intall with the Restore tar file from my original blog -- perhaps i should delete the wordpress and somehow setup a new database...is that it? -- )
i feel that once i do this once; and understand the steps ; then plain sailing from there! ... sorry for asking probably naive q's..
regards
David
