What are the values for the $_config variable backup_compress  in a Cron job?

Is it safe to edit them directly?

$_CONFIG['backup_compress']="0"   produces a .tar file with no compression

$_CONFIG['backup_compress']="1"   produces a .tgz file with a lot of compression (I presume this is compressed zip format)

Are there other values which I could use?  Will XCloner recognise all of them for recovery purposes?

I am trying to reduce the size of my backup file as it is causing timeouts when sent to Amazon S3.

So far, the experiments with .tgz look promising

That option only takes 0/disabled and 1/enabled , so yes, you got it right, that's for enabling compression.
