Automatic Restore "unable to connect to mysql server" problem:

First I set up a new MySQL database and user (and added user to database).

Then I copied my backup (.tar), XCloner.php, and TAR.php files into an empty folder where I want to restore to. From there I ran the XCloner.php file from my browser window. I enter MySQL user and database information and run and click "submit". XCloner starts to run, then stops and gives me this message:

The database details provided are incorrect and/or empty. Unable to connect to mysql server.

I then created a new MySQL database and user and ran XCloner.php again, entering the new MySQL database inforamtion and this time it ran.

However, now on a second restore attempt I continue to get the "Unable to connect to mysql server" message and creating a new mysql database & user does no good.

What causes this error, and how can I fix?

It looks like the above explanation is a little confusing, so I've illustrated my problem better here below with screenshots in this video:

Thanks for any help on this...

Jay, when generating the backup archive, was there an XCloner.php on your original location? If so, delete it or exclude it from the backup and try again!

I will suggest also to make the database user password only letters and numbers and see if that helps!

Yes, there was an XCloner.php file in the original location.

I was able to get it to finnally take before you responded. Not sure exactly what I did to make it work except I kept trying. In the future I will take your suggestions. Thank you for your response.
