Error When Attempting to Clone a Backup

When attempting a clone I'm getting the following error:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/83/7357383/html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.functions.php on line 682
FTP connection has failed!Attempted to connect to servername for user username

I can log into the server using the same user credentials from FileZilla.

Is the FTP that XCloner uses active or passive?  I need to connect passive.

Any help in figuring this out would be very welcome.  I'm attempting this in preparation for a move to a new server very in the next few days.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Ray! You can switch the ftp connection mode to Passive from the XCloner Config->System tab, the default is Active.

Hope it helps! Ovidiu

Ovidiu,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I made the change to passive but still have an issue connecting ftp through XCloner.  I can ftp through FileZilla with the same credentials but I'm getting now getting the following error with XCloner ftp: FTP connection has failed!Attempted to connect to servername for user username

Makes me think it's handling something differently than FileZilla.  I'll keep trying and would appreciate any suggestions.

Haver you tried using your new ftp server name ip address instead of the actual name? Also, make sure you don't add any ftp:// in front of the ftp address

If it still fails, i would advise checking our restore wiki here , it should help.

I'm having the exact same problem:

FTP connection has failed!Attempted to connect to crystalorigin.com for user crystalorigin

That happens after I select a backup from the View Backups screen, click the Clone button, fill in my FTP details, and then click Continue.

Replacing my domain with the IP address and setting FTP mode to passive don't allow it to work either.

Following another restore method to manually restore the file is also not an acceptable solution. That takes too much time and is too complicated for any non-programmer who will be attempting it.

This is my 2nd big problem with XCloner. I'm also not able to manually create a backup, even though cron jobs work fine.

FYI: my XCloner is installed on a Godaddy shared hosting account.

Hi John, you might need to contact your hosting support on that, they might have a restrictive firewall that could be blocking outgoing ftp connections...
