Help a newbie: can't login after install

I signed up for Xclone after much research. Installed it. Activated it. Go to login, nothing happens (using admin/admin). Same login screen keeps appearing.
I looked at the forum and see that I'm supposed to add something to a .php file. But being a relative website newbie, the complete lack of instruction on how to do this has me spinning in circles. Can somebody help please?
I need instructions on:
- how to find the .php file in question
- what to add to that file

To find how you can locate the php.ini file you need to check with your hosting support, inside that file you need to fix the session.save_path variable so it points to a valid writeable path like
session.save_path = "/tmp/"
