Have tried several times to create an initial backup and everything works up to 46% (of file count) and then it stops. Any thoughts on how to get to 100%?  thanks

Do you get any errors? Could you post a screenshot after your generate backup screen as well?

Here are two screenshots. I also get an error message on screen when I refresh or abort the backup but the message appears and disappears so quickly I can't get a shot or even really read it. All I can get is that there is some issue with "JSON".

thanks

Why don't you let the backup process run, unless you get a specific error message, let it run. .. it might take a while depending on your server speed.... If you like, try and exclude some items to get the backup size smaller...
