Just installed xcloner, on first attempt to generate backup get this error:

The error you have is related to the mysql user which doesn't have enough permissions to read and backup the database structure, try and give it full permissions, then try again!

Ok, noticed it was doing ok until it hit the schema table, so I did all but that, and it went through.
Now the problem is that when I click on the link that says click here to continue, nothing happens except it opens the supposedly cloned website in the admin frame, but it is not cloned!

I am presuming you are trying to restore the backup? If so, please follow this restore quide /wiki/index.php/Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually , it should help!

What is the point of having this plugin if I always have to do it manually?

As explained in that restore wiki, you simply need to move the backup archive and restore script to the new location so you are able to continue the restore process!

You are missing the point. I use the plugin supposedly to do an automatic backup, but I end up having to do things manually. That is the whole point of having the plugin, to NOT do things manually!!!!!! I might as well not use the plugin and save the server space/memory usage!!!!
