Before I waste time trying to figure it out I'd like to ask what the prerequisites are for moving a wordpress site to a new host in an addon domain. Does wordpress need to be running on the newer site, do I need XCloner installed on the newer host to restore a backup made from the original site? Must the nameserver change to the newer host be propagated to see that the backup has completed successfully? These are basic questions but ones which I cannot seem to find the answers to. Thanks so much!

And one final question, must a new database/user be set up before restoring onto the newer host?

Hi Daniel, this restore wiki should help /wiki/index.php?title=Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually , no need to install Wordpress, just create a new database on the new account, and follow the restore process.
As for DNS, no, that's not needed, however to test the site fully on the new account please check here /wiki/index.php?title=Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually
