I have two sites on the same host, one is production the other development.  I've installed XCloner on both.  It works very nicely on the development site, but won't work on the production site.

On the development site, my WordPress blog is in a subdirectory, that's the only difference between how the two sites are set up ( and the directory paths ).  On the development site I have the following:

Temporary Folder C:\HostingSpaces\xxxxxxx\smtest.the-code-monkey.com\wwwroot\blog\administrator\backups is writeable
the path [Backup Start Path/administrator/backups] needs to be created and be writeable in order for XCloner to work properly
Backup Start Path C:/HostingSpaces/xxxxxxx/smtest.the-code-monkey.com/wwwroot/blog/ is readable
the backup start path needs to exist and be readable in order for XCloner to start the backup process
Backup Path: C:/HostingSpaces/xxxxxxx/backups/wwwroot/ is writeable
needs to be writeable in order for XCloner to archive backups

This works great and the backups are running.

On the production site, my first problem is that I try to set the Backup Start Path to be C:/HostingSpaces/xxxxxxx/storymaster.the-code-monkey.com/wwwroot/ because on this site my blog is in my root.  After I click the Save button, the page reloads but the Backup Start Path gets set to "/" instead of "C:/HostingSpaces/xxxxxxx/storymaster.the-code-monkey.com/wwwroot/".  Then on the info site it says the following:

Temporary Folder incorrect or unreadable
the path [Backup Start Path/administrator/backups] needs to be created and be writeable in order for XCloner to work properly
Backup Start Path / is readable
the backup start path needs to exist and be readable in order for XCloner to start the backup process
Backup Path: C:/HostingSpaces/xxxxxxx/backups/wwwroot/ unwriteable
needs to be writeable in order for XCloner to archive backups

Which is odd because the Backup Path is the same for both sites, so why is it ok in one site and not the other?

What am I doing wrong?  Oh, and I made sure there was a C:/HostingSpaces/xxxxxxx/storymaster.the-code-monkey.com/wwwroot/administrator/backups directory and had my hosting provider set it to writeable.

Usually that happens when the Backup Start Path is incorrect, try and reinstall XCloner and see if you still get any issues with the default settings!

Hmm, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn't fix it.  It still clears out the back up path after I save.

Could be a windows server issue with the realpath() function, try and open the wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/common.php file and replace all occurencies of:

realpath

with

empty/space

The problem you have is pretty simple, you need to create the directory C:/Wamp/www/wordpress/administrator/backups , that should fix the error, please note that is not the same directory as the C:/Wamp/www/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/administrator/backups as shown in your screenshot.

Thank you sir. Next time I'll read the way to do it. I did make a dir in wp root, (backups) but did not create the dir (administrators), or the backup dir.

Thank you again and it's working now.

This app is great! Thank you, so much. Being here in Colorado and with what the government did with the oil and gas, it killed us here. When I get some extra money, I will definitely send you some for your work. You are good.

Thanks again

I'm having problems again.

It's saying that my directories are invalid, but they are there. Is it a permission problem?

Thanks again
