Problems with WordPress 3 site after restore to new domain

I backed up a site I want to use as a cookie cutter template.

Restored to a new domain.  Restore seemed to go alright.  Admin password would not work.  However the forgot password link worked and I logged into the dashboard and reset my password.

As soon as I changed the tagline for the website and new website name, after saving I was kicked out to a search result showing a URL that cant be found.  No longer within the wordpress Dashboard.

Now I can't log in.  I put in my name and password, and the password field clears but does not load the dashboard.  But if I use a wrong password, wordpress tells me.  But correct password leaves me at the login screen.

I am thinking this is some kind of simple setting or database setting.  Can anyone give me some direction?

Thanks,

Duane

The issue you have might be coming from the new hosting server, check with your hosting support that sessions are working properly, and that the actual session.save_path php.ini path has enough disk space available to store further sessions.

Also look for any php errors in your server log, it would help in finding the real issue.

Does the fact that the hosting account is hosting other domains that are working make any difference as to if this problem is in the php.ini or not?

If other sites on the same server are working fine, it might be then an issue then with that local site, could you attach here your phpinfo() information you get from that domain?

Is this the output your asking for?   http://home-security.....m/info.php

I just created that file from the sample code they listed on the URL you gave me..

Thanks,

Duane

OK, try this, inside the wp-config.php you will see two urls with your site, try and remove the slash at the end of them, so instead of

http://home-security.....attle.com/

you have

http://home-security.....eattle.com

Let me know if you still have issues after! Ovidiu

Looks like that solved the problem..  The domain name was greyed out and would not let me change in wordpress.  I commented the two lines out in the wp-config.php and then changed them.  Things appear to be working now.

Thank you for your help.

Glad to hear this, i made an update in the XCloner package so that trailing slash is no added by default, let me know if you encounter same issues on a new restore
