Simple steps to cloning site to new domain (.com to .net)?

I've been trying to get clear in my head all the steps I need to do to clone my existing .com site into a .net site, but I'm not getting all the pieces, and I'm getting wonky trying to keep things straight.  I need a complete, step-by-step example of what to do.

My setup is this:

/home/mainuser/mydomain.com is where my WP site is installed on the server filesystem

I want to make an exact duplicate at mydomain.net

I have an existing brand new WP install at

/home/mainuser/mydomain.net

I've used XCloner on the .com site, and have a full backup sitting in /home/mainuser/mydomain.com/administrators/backups

Both domains are on the same server, same username, no FTP access allowed

Can I use the existing backup files to create the clone in the new domain, with everything renamed correctly?  If so, please walk me through it, and please don't point to the manual or the wiki, they're not that clear, especially when they give examples using Windows tools and Joomla.  Pretend I'm stupid (not that hard, believe me ;-; )and need to be told with detailed examples, using my file system described above.

If that's something I have to pay for, give me a rate, I'm willing to pay!  ^_^

Hi there, to get started you simply need to copy the backup archive and restore script we provide to the new location, create a new database and start the XCloner.php restore script, the steps from there should be pretty easy as they are visual.

Feel free to open a support ticket if you like!

Okay, not quite the step by step I was looking for.

Keep in mind all the sites and databases are on the same server, and I have a Wordpress site already installed for the second domain, which means it already has a database.

Is XCloner smart enough to rename everything needed by Wordpress to use the new domain, including inside the database?  I don't mind blowing away the contents of the current new domain site, I just don't want the clone to interfere in some way with the original.

When you say "start the XCloner PHP script" where do I do that?  Command line in linux, or do I point my browser to a URL that executes the script?

Like I said, treat me like an idiot, I'm too new at Wordpress and am slowly learning PHP, although I've been doing software for 30 years, there's a lot of particulars to come up to speed on.

Thanks,

Start XCloner.php = open your browser window, and type in the url to that script from the new server, afterwards you should be able to see further insutructions and details to fill in for the restore process.

And yes, once the restore process starts and all details are correct, XCloner will fill in the rest of the data so the resulted site will be functional one.
