Hi there.
I'm trying to clone a live site to my local development server but keep finding that the local wp-config.php file isn't updated with the correct database details and that the mysql database isn't updated with the new local domain name.
Because I don't have / allow direct FTP access to my local development machine I have downloaded the backup manually and copied the TAR.php and XCloner.php files to the local root directory.
I can run XCloner.php just fine, enter the new database details.
The files are extracted, the database installed (I'm using the Add Drop Tables option) but every time I go to visit the site locally the wp-config.php contains the original site database details.
If I manually update wp-config.php I discover that all of the internal domain name references are still set to the example.com live domain instead of the example.local development domain.
Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
When doing the restore, make sure the wp-config.php file remains writeable, otherwise XCloner is not able to update it with the new mysql settings.
XCloner also add a code in the wp-config.php to help with the url change, please check here http://codex.wordpre.....method in case you need to add that manually!
Hope it helps! Ovidiu
